Govt approves ₹84,000 crore 'Samudra Manthan' project for oil and gas exploration

The government has approved 'Samudra Manthan', the National Offshore Exploration Scheme, with an approved outlay of ₹84,084 crore for implementation up to FY 2030-31. The scheme aims to boost domestic offshore oil and gas exploration and strengthen India's energy security. It is expected to help add over 600 million metric tonnes of oil equivalent (MMTOE) to India's hydrocarbon reserves.
