Govt asked banks to rescue Jet Airways, avoid bankruptcy: Reports

The government has asked state-run banks to rescue privately held Jet Airways without pushing it into bankruptcy, as per reports. It has further urged National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) to take a stake in the cash-strapped airline, reports added. The move would, however, be "transitory" and lenders could sell the stakes once the airline revives, reports further said.
