Govt bans oral formulations with above 100 mg Nimesulide over safety concerns

The Centre has banned the manufacture, sale and distribution of oral formulations of Nimesulide above 100 mg in immediate release dosage form, as per a gazette notification. It noted that the drug is "likely to involve risk to human beings" and that safer alternatives are available. The decision was taken in consultation with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board.
