Govt cannot become judge & demolish properties of accused: Supreme Court

A two-judge Supreme Court bench criticised the 'bulldozer justice' trend, saying, "The executive can't declare a person guilty." It added, "The executive cannot become a judge and decide that a person accused is guilty and, therefore, punish him by demolishing his residential/commercial property/properties." Such acts would strike at basic principle of rule of law, the apex court said.
