Govt confirms French court ordered freezing of Indian assets by Cairn Energy

MoS for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Tuesday confirmed that a French Court has passed an order "freezing certain Indian government properties in the case pertaining to Cairn Energy". Cairn is seeking to recover $1.7 billion from India after winning an arbitration award in a tax dispute. Earlier, reports said Cairn seized 20 Indian government-owned properties in France after the order.
