Govt responds to reports of testing use of ethanol in cooking fuel in India

Petroleum Ministry told the Parliament on Monday that the LPG Equipment Research Centre, a joint undertaking of IOCL, HPCL and BPCL, is testing the benefits of using ethanol as a cooking fuel in Indian households. The centre is undertaking "development efforts towards clean cooking alternatives based on ethanol", it said. Ethanol-blended cooking fuel may serve as biofuel alternative, it added.
