Govt cuts goal for new sex crime courts as states fall short of targets: Report

Centre has slashed its goal, set in 2019, to create thousands of new tribunals to fast-track proceedings in cases of sex crimes after states like West Bengal fell short of targets, Reuters reported. The government, which projected 2,600 such courts by 2026, has cut its target to 790. Lack of judges has also led to the reduction in Centre's target.
