Govt extends TRP freeze on news channels by 4 weeks amid Israel-Iran conflict

The government has extended suspension of TRPs for news channels by another four weeks amid Israel-Iran conflict. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting directed Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) to continue withholding viewership data, citing concerns over sensational and speculative reporting. It said that the absence of ratings would reduce competitive pressure on broadcasters.
