Government is weighing a temporary 10-20% hike in essential medicine prices, Moneycontrol reported. The move comes as the Iran war disrupted the supply of solvent, an essential industrial chemical, pushing up manufacturing costs for pharma companies. Any increase in the prices of essential medicines, including antibiotics, injectables and cancer drugs, would be passed on directly to retail prices.
