Govt gave 6,775 content blocking orders in 2022: MeitY

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said it issued 6,775 content blocking orders in 2022, under the IT Rules 2009, an 11% increase from 2021. Further, it stated that 53 meetings were held by a committee in 2022 to hear and examine the orders. Last year, microblogging site Twitter sued the government over few blocking orders it received.
