Govt internet shutdowns cost the world $5.5 bn in 2021, India 3rd most affected: Report
Major government internet shutdowns in 21 countries lasting over 30,000 hours cost the global economy $5.45 billion in 2021, a report from UK-based security research group Top10VPN said. Internet shutdowns cost Myanmar the most, followed by Nigeria and India. India suffered 1,157 hours of internet shutdown that affected over 5.91 crore residents and cost the country $582.8 million.
