Govt issues guidelines against 'dark patterns' that mislead online shoppers

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), the country's top consumer regulatory authority, has notified guidelines for the prevention and regulation of 'dark patterns'. Dark patterns are tactics used by online platforms to mislead customers and prevent them from making right choices. The guidelines will apply to all platforms, systematically offering goods or services in India.
