Govt launches ₹552 crore inland waterways project in West Bengal

To promote sustainable inland water transport, projects worth ₹552 crore have been launched under the ports & inland waterways sector in West Bengal. It marks a significant step toward decongesting traditional cargo routes and expanding multimodal connectivity. The government aims to leverage inland waterways as a cost-effective mode of transport, while reducing pressure on road/ rail networks.
