Govt launches ₹62,500-cr mobile manufacturing scheme, incentives up to 5%

The government has launched the ₹62,500-crore mobile phone manufacturing scheme, a five-year programme effective April 1, 2026, to boost handset production and local sourcing. Manufacturers will receive 2.25-5% incentives on eligible sales, with an additional 1.5% for sourcing specified components domestically. Indian handset brands will get higher 5% incentives for exports.
