Govt likely to discontinue sovereign gold bond issue: Report
The Indian government may discontinue issuing Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs), labelling them as "complex and expensive." SGBs, a debt instrument for raising funds, have seen investors double their money, with the government owing ₹85,000 crore. As demand grows in secondary markets, SGBs trade at a premium. However, profits from these sales will be subject to capital gains tax.
