Govt may extend import system for IT hardware by 3 months: Report

The government could extend the existing import management system for certain IT hardware products like laptops and tablets for three months, PTI reported. The system, introduced last year, requires importers of these products to seek authorisation from the government. These imports stood at $8.4 billion in 2023-24 against the authorisation of about $9.5 billion, the report said.
