Government on Friday opposed tax relief for air purifiers, a plea made to Delhi HC citing toxic smog in the city. It argued that a plea to reduce GST on air purifiers is untenable because rates are applied by GST Council after a process involving deliberation. Government also argued Council isn't empowered to decide if air purifiers are 'medical devices'.
