Govt plans $40 bn for food, fertiliser subsidy in Budget: Report

The government is planning to set aside about ₹3 lakh crore ($40 billion) on food and fertiliser subsidies in its Budget for 2022-23, reported Reuters citing sources. About ₹1.1 lakh crore will be allocated to fertiliser subsidies and ₹2 lakh crore to food subsidies, the report said. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is due to present the Budget on February 1.
