Govt plans jail term for insulting or disrupting Vande Mataram through amendment bill
Deliberate insult to or intentional obstruction of the singing of Vande Mataram could become punishable under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, through a proposed amendment. The Centre plans to introduce the Bill in the upcoming Monsoon Session. The Act currently prescribes imprisonment of up to three years, a fine, or both for disrupting the National Anthem.
