Govt proposes 5-yr extension in age limit for EVs, CNG vehicles

The Centre has proposed extending the age limit for battery, hydrogen and natural gas-powered vehicles by five years under draft amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. It also plans to allow electronic national permit authorisations for up to five years, costing ₹16,500 annually. The longer limits could encourage fleet operators to invest in cleaner vehicles.
