Govt proposes 816 Lok Sabha seats to implement women’s quota: Report
The central government has proposed increasing the strength of Lok Sabha and state Vidhan Sabhas based on Census 2011 data as a first step toward implementing the women's quota, The Indian Express reported. One proposal suggests raising Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816, the report added. Of these, 273 seats could be reserved for women under the quota.
