Govt proposes front-of-pack warning labels on packaged food after SC ultimatum: Report

FSSAI has proposed red-coloured hexagonal Front-of-Pack (FoP) warning labels on packaged food, reversing its earlier stance amid growing public anger over lack of strict labels, Reuters reported. "Label shall indicate applicable declaration, such as 'HIGH FAT', 'HIGH ​SUGAR', 'HIGH SALT'," FSSAI told Supreme Court in an affidavit. The move comes after SC gave the government a two-week ultimatum.
