Govt rejects reports of social media ban for those under 18

The government has rejected reports claiming that the Centre is planning to restrict social media access for everyone below 18. The reports came after the Supreme Court asked the Centre to introduce stronger legal provisions for social media platforms concerning minors and give them a statutory format. Earlier, ex-CJI DY Chandrachud also urged for regulations to control harmful online content.
