Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday that Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar is being renamed as 'Sri Vijaya Puram' in a bid to "free the nation from the colonial imprints" under the vision of PM Narendra Modi. He added that the new name signifies the freedom struggle and the Union Territory's role in it.
