Govt sells 4,000 tonnes of onions in 10 days amid price rise

The government sold around 4,000 tonnes of onions at subsidised rates across 17 cities in 10 days to curb rising prices, Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare said. She added that bulk stock of onions was sent to Delhi and Chennai and will be sent to Guwahati soon. The government reportedly has 1.21 lakh tonnes buffer stock of onions for 2026.
