Govt sends notice to Telegram, Signal over username feature after WhatsApp

Centre has issued notices to Telegram and Signal, seeking an explanation about the username feature and the safeguards placed against impersonation and its misuse, as per multiple reports. This comes a day after it sent a similar notice to WhatsApp's parent Meta and demanded answers within three days. Notably, Telegram had recently faced a week-long ban amid the NEET-UG re-examination.
