Govt to amend Essential Commodities Act for better price realisation for farmers

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced the Essential Commodities Act will be amended to enable better price realisation for farmers. Agriculture foodstuff including cereals, edible oils, oilseeds, pulses, onions and potatoes will be deregulated. The stock limit will be imposed under very exceptional circumstances like calamities and famine with surge in prices, Sitharaman added.
