Govt to examine legal route to block WhatsApp's username feature: Report

The government will examine WhatsApp's username feature over impersonation concerns, NDTV Profit reported. The feature, announced nearly two days ago by Meta-owned WhatsApp, will let users hide their phone numbers. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will study legal mechanisms to possibly block the feature amid fears it could be misused by scammers, the report added.
