Govt to pay up to ₹650 crore per deep-sea well under 'Samudra Manthan' project

The government will fund up to half the cost of drilling a deep-sea or ultra-deepwater exploration well, or ₹650 crore, whichever is lower, under the 'Samudra Manthan' project. The initiative will support 60 wells over the next five years, officials told PTI. The government recently approved the project with outlay of ₹84,084 crore to boost domestic oil and gas production.
