Govt warns people about 'smishing' attacks

The government's Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has warned people to beware of 'smishing' attacks, a technique used by fraudsters to trick users by sending text messages to gather personal information of targets to commit financial frauds. "Users receive messages with links/posts of offers/gifts/rewards," CERT-In said. The link redirects people to malicious sites, it added.
