Govt's ICMR issues new guidelines on antibiotic medicines' use and misuse

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued guidelines warning against the use and prescription of antibiotics for ailments like low-grade fever and viral bronchitis. It said that for skin and soft tissue infections as well as community-acquired pneumonia, antibiotics can be prescribed for five days. An eight-day course of the tablets can be advised for hospital-acquired pneumonia.
