GPS, drones used to uncover ₹688-cr property tax evasion in B'luru

The Greater Bengaluru Authority used GPS-based house-to-house surveys, drone imagery of individual properties, and other tech-driven techniques to detect ₹688 crore in property tax evasion across about 23,600 properties in Bengaluru. A mobile app was used for the same. Tens of thousands of show-cause notices were issued to owners demanding payment of evaded tax, along with interest and penalties.
