GST collection at source for e-commerce firms from October 1

The government has notified October 1 as the date for implementing the Tax Collected at Source (TCS) provision under the GST regime. E-commerce firms will have to deduct tax at the rate of 1% before making payments to the suppliers of goods and services. E-commerce firms had opposed this measure, arguing that it would add to their compliance burden.
