GST Council to consider decriminalisation of offences under GST law

The GST Council, headed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is likely to discuss decriminalisation of offences under GST law in its next meeting, officials said. One of the proposals before the Council is to raise the threshold limit for launching criminal proceedings under GST for offences over ₹20 crore. The 48th GST Council meeting will be conducted on December 17.
