GTRI urges India to not rewrite UPI policies under US pressure

Think tank GTRI said India must not rewrite its UPI policies under US pressure and should defend competition, policy autonomy, and sustainability of its payments ecosystem. GTRI said that banks and payment-system providers cannot charge users for payment methods directly or indirectly. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman refuted claims that the proposed Merchant Discount Rate would affect users.
