Guatemala closes airport after volcanic ash coats planes

Guatemalan authorities on Tuesday closed Guatemala City's international airport after ash from a nearby volcanic eruption coated planes and diverted an incoming flight to neighbouring El Salvador. "The change of wind direction from the south to the north...has caused us to receive volcanic ash," an official said. Nine flights were grounded at the airport due to it.
