Gujarat district becomes sanitation role model with 95% twin-pit toilet system adoption

Gujarat's Dang district has emerged as a model of rural sanitation after 95% of households adopted the twin-pit toilet system. The district has constructed more than 51,000 twin-pit toilets since 2014 which has benefited over 48,000 families. The system, recommended by the World Health Organisation, safely decomposes human waste into organic manure, reducing the risk of groundwater contamination.
