Gujarat govt tables Gujarat UCC Bill 2026 in Assembly

The Gujarat government on Wednesday tabled the Gujarat Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill, 2026, in the Assembly. A common legal framework with some exemptions is proposed to govern marriage, divorce, succession across communities, including registration and termination of live-in relationships. The Justice Ranjana Desai-led committee gave its final report on the Bill to CM Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday.
