Gukesh D breaks down after becoming youngest-ever world chess champion

India's 18-year-old chess Grandmaster Gukesh D broke down in tears after defeating Ding Liren of China to win the World Chess Championship 2024 in Singapore. Gukesh D was visibly emotional after he shook hands with Ding. Gukesh won the championship match with a scoreline of 7.5-6.5, becoming the youngest-ever world chess champion. He is the 18th world chess champion.
