Hackers hijack robot vacuums to chase pets & yell slurs in US

Robotic vacuum cleaners across several cities in US were hacked earlier this year and used to chase pets and yell racist slurs at their owners. The affected vacuums were all Chinese-made Ecovacs Deebot X2s. The incident comes after researchers notified significant security flaws and showed that a bug allowed them to bypass PIN entry to gain access to the vacuum.
