HAL overlooks missing 'e' in IDs, pays fake firm ₹55 lakh for fighter jet parts

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) paid ₹55 lakh to a fake firm for fighter aircraft parts. The company was in touch with a legitimate US firm initially, but later the email it was conversing with was replaced with a fake one, DCP Anjali Vishwakarma said. HAL overlooked a missing 'e' in two IDs and paid the fake vendor, she added.
