HAL seeks CCS nod for IMRH program to replace 240 Mi-17s

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) anticipates Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approval by late 2025 for its 13-tonne Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH). This indigenous helicopter aims to replace over 240 ageing Mi-17s across the Army, Air Force, and Navy from 2032. The program significantly enhances India's self-reliance in defence manufacturing, targeting a 2028 prototype rollout.
