Hally War, who preserved ancient Khasi tradition for 50 yrs, receives Padma Shri

President Droupadi Murmu conferred the 69-year-old environmentalist, Hally War, with the Padma Shri for his efforts in preserving the ancient Khasi tradition of bio-weaving bridges from living tree roots in the East Khasi Hills. For over five decades, War has helped connect remote areas, strengthen ecological balance, and promote sustainable living rooted in indigenous practices.
