Hamas is planning to elect its first leader in January since the killing of Yahya Sinwar in 2024, Reuters reported, citing two sources within the militant group. Khalil al-Hayya and Khaled Meshaal are considered frontrunners for the leadership of the group. Notably, Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7 attacks in Israel, was killed by Israeli forces.
