Harvard University researchers have demonstrated for the first time, a bridge to link small quantum computers on a single chip. By forcefully embedding silicon atoms in a matrix of carbon atoms, they created a quantum network wherein all atoms behave like a single atom. Exciting those silicon atoms with a laser causes them to emit photons that carry quantum information.
