Haryana bans opinion trading apps under new gambling law

Haryana banned opinion trading apps that allow users to win money by placing bets on future events retrospectively from April 9, according to an official Gazette notification reviewed by Mint. The state government ordered this under its Prevention of Public Gambling Act, 2025. The move follows a public interest litigation and an intervention by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
