Haryana sets 6 years as minimum age for Class 1 admission

Haryana has set a minimum age of six years for admission to Class 1 from the 2026–27 academic session. The decision ends the earlier provision that allowed entry at five-and-a-half years. The move aligns the state with NEP 2020 norms, aims to reduce academic pressure on younger children, and follows Punjab and Haryana High Court directive to standardise early education.
