Haveri farmer destroys 11-acre maize crop after dry spell
A farmer in Karnataka's Haveri district destroyed his 11-acre maize crop after a prolonged dry spell and failed monsoon left it completely damaged. Kirankumar Gadigol, who invested over ₹2 lakh in seeds and fertilisers, said he had no option but to plough over the field. Farmers in the region are now demanding compensation, relief measures and a green drought declaration.
