HC allows cutting of 208 mangroves for Vadhavan Port link road citing 'public utility'

The Bombay HC allowed felling of 208 mangrove trees for construction of eight-lane access-controlled highway for connectivity to Vadhavan port. It said the project proponent secured all necessary environmental clearances, besides complying with compensatory afforestation requirements. It added that the project is of "public utility". The port project has an estimated cost of ₹76,220 crore.
