HC slams Noida DM over activist's NSA detention, calls her conduct 'despotic'

The Allahabad High Court slammed Gautam Buddha Nagar DM Medha Roopam over detention of activist Akriti Chaudhary over Noida workers' protest under NSA. The court stated that "despotic" conduct by bureaucracy could reduce UP to an "Orwellian Dystopia". It directed that ₹5 lakh compensation be paid to Akriti and amount will be taken from salaries of Roopam and other officials.
